This evening after a production meeting with GAZ, I boarded the underground @ Kipling Station, only to be greeted by the sound of a distressed brunette who was calling attention to a pair of ruffians who had been terrorising a blonde for the entirety of their ride together.
Whilst others stood around looking @ each other, weighing the possible legal ramifications of Doing The Right Thing, I turned immediately to pursue the ruffians, lest the blonde find herself raped, robbed & ruined.
As I did so, the brunette immediately alerted the ticket operator of what had happened to precipitate my actions.
When the ruffians clocked my approach, they fled up an escalator, leaving the blonde to make her way unmolested to the Kiss & Ride.
As I followed up the adjacent stairs & overtook them, the ruffians became garrulous, saying that they had been "only playing", & that they had intended no harm to the blonde.
When they reached the doors to the car park, the brunette identified them & the blonde positively to me as I pursued them:
"Is she the blonde?"
"Yes."
"Are they the ones who threatened her?"
"Yes."
"That's all I needed to know."
I closed the distance between the ruffians & myself, impressing upon them that it would be in their best interests to allow the blonde to enter her waiting ride unmolested.
They complied with my wishes as she entered her friend's car, then was driven off.
When I was satisfied that they had a decent headstart, I turned & left the ruffians to their own devices as the brunette thanked me for my intervention, then I escorted her back upstairs to the bus platform before making my way to the cyberlounge where I am typing this.
...& so you see, comic books *can* have a beneficial influence upon a young mind!

MS. KITKA,
I was just doing my civic duty, as any other Gothamite would.

Swoon!, indeed! One of these days you're gonna get a knife in the gut, Mal. The last time I tried to assist someone in danger I almost got run over by their car (the aggressor's car, not the victim's). Oh, hey, while I've got your attention, I'm not sure if you're aware that Jon Cassar and company have pulled off the most awesome publicity stunt ever. On last Tuesday's episode of 24 they showed a phone number being dialed and the number is actually a valid one that fans can dial and speak directly with Jon Cassar and various cast and crew members (whoever happens to be around when the phone rings). According to members of the production team who've posted on the official message board at forums.prospero.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=fox24&msg=57698.1 , they've received more than 40,000 calls in 48 hours from people all over the world. I'm too chicken to call but I did leave a message for Jon Cassar on the forum which made mention of you and your work on NIKITA, Mal. I know he read it but he has yet (if ever) to respond to me on the board or by email. KJC

I am pleased that the felon's homicide attempt on you failed, & hope that incident has not deterred you from being of assistance to others since that time.
I've engaged in single combat with a knife-wielder before, thankfully, & I know that the whole point of concealed weapons is that one not learn of them until they are revealed in battle - which is why I never underestimate an opponent.
The first time someone attempted to run me over with a car was also my first experience of a female stalker, so I grok the fullness of the totality!
I have not seen 24TM since Season 1, which hooked me immediately, but I know that MR. JON CASSAR'S work on it is exemplary, so that does not surprise me, as he is very good with fandom.
I am honoured that you would mention me in such an exchange with MR. CASSAR, particularly since working with him has always been a wonderful experience for me.

Bravo Malcolm,
Any fair maiden would feel safe with their hand on your arm.
Some people are hesitant to perform their civic duty in coming to the aide of someone and the effect of non-action could have serious consequences. The attitude of “If only" after the means nothing to person who has been injured emotionally, mentally, and or physical.
Again, I applaud you Sir Knight! Chivalry has not gone by the wayside.

SIRONA,
Thank you, o my lady!
Whenever I see Courtroom Drama on tele' or @ the cinema, what always impresses itself upon me is the fact that the victim of sexual/violent crime will *never* be the same again, & that their life & those of the people who care for them will face an obstacle that must be surmounted whenever any sort of intimacy looms on the horizon.
I'm a firm believer that reinstituting duelling would curb many of the world's ills, while clearing some detritus from the genepool.

Are we talking with swords or Pistols? Either way would be fine with me!!! I can imagine what it would be like if people knew that there were actually consequences that could be met out quickly from these kinds of acts(I myself would vote for chemical castration of ANY convicted sexual predator/or abuser)

I favour swords for duelling, as I think it a lot more personal than pistols, & the issue of possible mechanical failure & sabotage is eliminated.
"Chemical castration"? Never heard of that practise.

Chemical Castration is a way to help keep males from getting erections-They take hormone drugs to do this here is a better explanation.
Chemical castration is a form of punishment reserved for male sex offenders, typically pedophiles and rapists. It is also a preliminary and concurrent step in hormone treatment for male-to-female transsexualism.
For male sex offenders, chemical castration is more humane than actual castration. Additionally, it is not permanent. For male-to-female transsexuals, the change will be permanent after six months.
Depo-Provera (a progestin) is the drug used today. It "acts on the brain to inhibit hormones that stimulate the testicles to produce testosterone". That was taken from the wikipedia the free on-line encyclopedia

Acknowledged, thanks for the intel.
I was not aware that such practises were @ work in current penal management, although I was very much aware of the pre-operative trans-sexual application.
It puts me in mind of DOCTOR FRANK N. FURTER'S "I'll cure the disease...but not...the symptom!"

The only problem is that with certain individuals you can not *treat* the symptoms of the disease, there is no curable treatment for people with sexual variances, such as child porn, and rapists, that is the problem. They can not be *Cured* they can only be stopped, That is why they use the *Chemical * castration,It isn't a cure all though as it can be undone.
