THU. FEB. 10/2005/24:57 E.S.T.
Yesterday, I was contacted by a representative from a Canadian firm that is currently riding the crest of a wave brought on by the success of a film they produced that is currently on DVD after a successful cinematic run in 2004.
Because I have a major voiceover audition tomorrow morning, she told me that she would ring me tomorrow afternoon to discuss FINNEGAN'S SQUADTM with me @ that time.
GAZ will be in absentia, so he has authorised me to represent him by proxy, which essentially means that I shall be making a solo preliminary pitch.
This will mark the second time that I shall be discussing the series with a production company representative who knows & respects my work & who knows me personally, & who is known in turn by me.
I suspect that her boss has likely instructed her to conduct a gen-gathering interview in order for her to determine whether or not she thinks the show is viable enough that GAZ & I should be granted a pitch session with him.
More intel as it comes....

Good luck with the audition and the pitch, Malcolm. I'll be thinking of you and sending you good vibes as I spend the day shopping and spending waaaay too much money...on things I don't need. KJC

Thank you very much! The audition was for the voiceover role of a man in his mid-60's, so I doubt I'll get it, since my belief is that I was there primarily because I can do the accent they wanted.
The production company representative didn't call.
My imagination is running amok @ the notion of what those things might be, you libertine, you!

I'm a voice-over artist and, despite the years of practice I've had, I still can't nail down the vocal sounds/patterns of the geriatric set. I'm best known for my ability to affect a British or Australian accent, and often get called upon for voice work requiring an Angie Jolie/Lara Croft sound-alike. The production company representative didn't call.Well, that sucks! I hope it was just a scheduling snafu of some kind that kept her away from the phone, rather than an intentional dismissal. My imagination is running amok @ the notion of what those things might be, you libertine, you!Well, if you're really interested, Mal, here's what I bought today: 3 interior design books (I'm a designer/decorator as well as an industry flunkie www.kjcgroup.net ) a new set of pots & pans from IKEA (great deal!) a new cell phone with integrated digital camera (cool!) a new cotton blanket to throw over my bunnies cage to keep them warm (they keep chewing them all to shreds!) and an awesome new pair of platform shoes made entirely of clear plastic. The six inch spiked heels light up in green, yellow, red and blue whenever they hit the ground as I walk. I've dubbed them my 'disco stripper' shoes. I can't wait to wear these downtown at night this spring! KJC

I’m not upset about it, since I anticipated that the other blokes who are already in their 60’s had a better chance @ the role, anyway. When THE OTHERS™ was being cast, I was approached about the role of the black geezer in his 70’s (but knew I wouldn’t get it, for obvious reasons!), & prior to that, I was approached about the chauffeur character in DRIVING MISS DAISY™ & the black geezer in I’M NOT RAPPAPORT™. In both cases, I wondered what my agent had been thinking, but it was good to be thought of so highly by the theatres’ artistic personnel that I was even on the same list of people whose careers are longer than my own life on this planet.
I have no doubt that your work in those accents is tremendously provocative, especially when combined with that pair of big guns wieled by LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER™
I doubt it was “an intentional dismissal”, since it’s not the first time that this has happened with the company in question, but I hope it’s not the sort of thing we can expect if they do come aboard FSQ™.
Quite an eclectic assortment, that! I could not help but think of the shoes favoured by MS. PAMELA ANDERSON in her role as VALERIE IRONS in V.I.P.™
