OK, I just found a really cool page on the Finnegan's Squad website. METRIC TIME. It looks exactly how I always imagined Star Trek's STARDATE would actually work! This is soo cooollll! As I wrote on another board, are you sure this is a fictional show, I'm starting to think we're actually peering into the future!

FIRST LEFTENANT,
MR. GARY DAVIDSON is not just a writer of Science Fiction; he is a Futurist, so your favourable comparison to MR. GENE RODDENBERRY’S STAR TREK™ will be appreciated by him. I have no doubt that he will be pleased to learn that you are still finding things in his universe to discover & enjoy, prior to the debut broadcast of FSQ™.

We're not actually accusing him or anything but:
- His first name IS Gary - He has a strange affinity to the number Nine - A kick-ass collection of pen-like things - His wife has a vague "Teri Garr" sort of aspect to her - They have a black cat (though not named "Isis")
So we're not sure that behind some panel somewhere in their house there isn't a Beta 5 (or higher) computer peering into the future.

TOPPER,
That is compelling evidence indeed that GARY “7” DAVIDSON has been given the ASSIGNMENT: EARTH™.
As for the female humanoid/feline, my thoughts are best left unpublished....

Is there a converter for the rest of us? Say I wanted to convert Jan 5 1971 at 7:49pm into a metric time--Is there a place to put it into the super computer and figure out an answer.

Is there a converter for the rest of us? Say I wanted to convert Jan 5 1971 at 7:49pm into a metric time--Is there a place to put it into the super computer and figure out an answer. The METRIC TIME for that moment is 2121.81377, or 2121.8 (because who gives the time down to the second anyway). We do have a Metric Time calculator program, unfortunately it's pretty finicky, and the set up (because the system is anchored to Universal Time) isn't that easy. It's also slightly more accurate than the web version, which roughly translates to one day every twenty years. Now there is a little trick that might work depending on how far back your computer clock goes (our PCs only go to 1980 while the MACs go back to 1970). There is a way to figure out the approx Metric Date on your own. Step 1: Change your computer clock to the date you want BEFORE visiting the webpage with the Metric Time clock on it. The web clock works off your computer clock so the number that displays is very close to accurate. Odd thing though, the Metric Date displayed on the webclock for dates earlier than January 21, 1996 will not display properly. You'll need to move the decimal point one to the left to be accurate. For example: January 5, 1980 displays as 49529.37800, to make this correct move the decimal over one to the left making it 04952.93780. This will be required for any date before January 21, 1996. Because the program wasn't designed to display dates that long ago it doesn't know to put a zero in first. Anyway, we hope that helps!
