I just received an Email solicitation from a local modelling agency that has a Film/TV Division.
Apparently, the person who heads that division "thinks I have a good look" & wants to know if I'm represented by a Canadian agency.
Again, very flattering to be sought after in such a fashion, although I find it curious that this individual was not able to ascertain for herself/himself something that is made known publicly & internationally before approaching me.
The agency is a member of the SCREEN ACTORS' GUILD™ (status I was not aware that an agency could pursue & be granted), & has "a strong network of clients in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan & Tokyo", claiming to have "the experience & alliances that can pull in its favour to book [me] anything from a commercial to a cover of a top fashion magazine, & [having] some of the toughest booking agents on [my] side, will work, & at an impressive day rate."
I get the impression that this agency has geared its pitch toward models rather than to actors, since there was no mention of how hard *I* would be required to work once I had been secured an audition for a given role, nor of what the agency would expect of me in return for its efforts on my behalf.
Of all the offers I have been made by other agencies, this was the boldest & most aggressive, but I mustneeds think on it further....

Wait until they see you in person. One shouldn't have to think on the above, however, this is based on up close and personal experience

THU. MARCH 24/2005/13:48 E.S.T.
I received an Email from an agency of which I had never heard before, today, which is excerpted below.
It's curious that each agency that's approached me has made a point of emphasising how they feel that they are better suited to my professional ambitions than my current representation.
"...a new full service talent agency, has recently opened its head office...Our vision is to help our clients meet and exceed their goals in the film and television industry by placing greater focus on marketing, PR and career planning.
We are currently expanding specific segments of our roster and are conducting interviews with select individuals. We came across your posting...and are writing to you on the understanding that you are currently unrepresented.

I think they need to check into things a bit more carefully before writing to you, I am not even in the business and I KNOW you are represented by Brooke Talent, unless there has been a change.

I must confess that this had occurred to me as well, unless they were being disingenuous in a deliberate attempt to appeal to my vanity & avarice.
