LADYTASS,
I was also quite pleased with what I read, especially with the escalation of Dramatic Conflict within the story. That bloke ZUND is not to be underestimeated….

I liked the sly, almost matter-of-fact way we learned that mackenzie was a woman, and a formidable one at that!

LADYTASS,
I grok the fullness of the totality!

MS. KITKA,
That was my single favourite aspect of the story so far. I’m glad that I was not the only person who caught that.

;D This story is very nice. I like the writing style and I'm sort of suprised how well I'm enjoying what is really a western. Congrats to the titan writers. Are these the same people who are writing the scripts because then this is sort of a sneak peak into the style of the series as well, right?

LEIA,
I had not noticed the Western motif! Clearly, I’m standing too closely to the woods to see the trees….

I didn't see it either but I do now. Does Finnegan's Squad take place in this setting? That would be pretty unusual for a Sci-Fi series I think.

First off , Well met and welcome to the boards--Alway's nice to have new thoughts(and new member's- and secondly the story is part of a back story on the main character this is not so much set in a western style but in a futuristic style--The western style is do to the placing of the story--I hope that answers your question. and as alway's Blessed Be

Welcome to the domain!
MR. JOSS WHEDON’S FIREFLY™ & SERENITY™ have that territory covered quite well, actually….

LADYTASS,
Once again, your hospitality is much appreciated & your dissemination of intel quite succinct.

This story reads to me more like a Blade Runner western than a Star Trek western (which is what Firefly always struck me as). (One more sleep to FINN FRIDAY #7!)

Sorry MX but no, this is not Lynn. I've never met that person. (you are serious aren't you? or is this the name of a character playing on my moniker?)

Star Hunter was also a stylised western set in a futuristic place: Bounty hunters in space:but I do not see Finnegan's Squad fitting in with the space western genre. It would fit in better with what Kitka said as far as Blade runner but I don't see it their either. I see it as more like an A-Team or an Air Wolf except for the facyt that the team is not being hunted and are not renegade's

Funny that you should cite BLADE RUNNER™, since GARY DAVIDSON, TOPPER & I are all fans of MR. PHILIP KINDRED DICK’S writing, & of SIR RIDLEY SCOTT’S screen adaptation of DO ANDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC SHEEP?™
FIREFLY™ always struck me as a programme that subverts & satirises the conceits which are popularly associated with STAR TREK™, but I see your point.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
PUNISHMENT,
I was alluding to a character from THE PUNISHER™ VOL. II, rather than a real person, but it’s good to know that I’m dealing with a dominatrix, rather than a fictional character come to life. How did you come to choose that particular “moniker”?
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
LADYTASS,
That is very true about STARHUNTER™, now that I think about it; thank you. I had not realised that “Space Western” had become an established subgenre of Science Fiction.
One could certainly find oneself in far worse company than THE A-TEAM™ & AIRWOLF™, so thanks for that. When I think of programmes that have gone before FINNEGAN’S SQUAD™, SPACE: ABOVE & BEYOND™ bears the closest resemblance to the programme as I perceive it whenever I read a new script.

Sorry for not noticing this question earlier. It's just a pun on one of my names but after visiting your site I can now see why you asked. Serendipity perhaps?
