I must confess,I have seen Shuttledown. Yes I got to preview it,I wasn't sure if TitanRainbow or Gary in Particular wanted me to say anything,so until I got the ok from Gary I wasn't going to say anything. The fact is that I loved it. The show plays alot like The old Dr.Who with Tom Baker(one of my all time faves)Or Star Hunter in the way it comes across--It is very Character driven, not a whole lot of effects to drive your attention away from the story(which is one point for it's side). The acting was very good, Malcolm is brilliant as Finn,His character is driven to prove himself while on the other hand trying to do it in a way that makes you the viewer aware that he does not always agree with what he is told to do,second guessing the intentions of his superiors to some degree(but than I may just be biased in my opinion) Gary Teed as Ethan Frohman was very convincing as the bad guy/anti hero--I kind of wish you got to know a bit more about his character--his background is left pretty sketchy, but you get the feeling that is on purpose. After getting to see the preview,I am more excited than ever to get this show aired!!!! I think every one should get the chance to view this show in it's entirety--I can tell you that the teaser they put out does not do this show justice.

LADYTASS,
Thank you for having taken the time to view SHUTTLEDOWNTM, & for the generous comparison of it with DOCTOR WHOTM, a programme that I grew up with, & which terrified me on more than 1 occasion. I have great respect & admiration for the dynamism & conviction of MR. TOM BAKER'S interpretation of the character ("Have a jelly baby!"), although MESSRS. PATRICK TROUGHTON & JON PERTWEE are my own favourites, especially the former.
STAR HUNTERTM was a programme for which I was auditioned unsuccessfully, & on which I had wanted to work quite badly, as I had wanted to work with MICHAEL PARE. When the storyline changed to MONTANA'S son, it became about the well-crafted leather costumes & gun rigs for me, so I was even more anxious to land the gig! The workmanship of MR. ADAM SMITH'S Sword In The Stone CraftsTM, now available through The Art of The SwordTM, was prominently displayed throughout Seasons 1 & 2.
GARY TEED was great fun to work with, & a comment about his own performance compelled me to re-watch the programme, & I found that he gave a performance which now puts me in mind of MR. DeFOREST KELLY, for all the right reasons.
I am well pleased that you perceived FINN'S motivation as I had intended, & hope that others will share your level of appreciation in the coming months.

I thought you provided a very non-spoilery recommendation already, but if you see fit to do so, I shall read it.

I'm hearing rumours elsewhere that copies of this are going to be for sale soon. Any idea when?

I'm hearing rumours elsewhere that copies of this are going to be for sale soon. Any idea when? FIRST LEFTENANT,
I shall let TOPPER or GAZ address the answer to your question, since they are both more immediately involved with the distribution decision-making process than I.
In the meantime, the following was posted by TRUE TREK on the SPACETM Board in support of SHUTTLEDOWNTM:posted January 08, 2005 03:52 PM Ok, here goes. The first thing he liked was that the opening scroll doesn't give away too much of the story but simply sets up the show, it's security video relating to an important case or something. it's like evidence. Secondly, it jumps right to the crisis. The title is SHUTTLEDOWN and we're not left wondering when that's going to happen. It happens right away. I told him the whole thing is supposedly about half an hour, so we're much guessing that the story is about their survivial, but for it to be relevant to a court case something has to be revealed in the video that's either not public knowledge, or damaging to one or the other character. Thirdly, the premise stays true. We're shown shots of Earth and the Shuttle from what could be satellites, never fly-bys which would, pardon the pun, ruin the 'effect'. The interiors are either cut aways to console displays or static shots. Exactly what the scroll said. We sort of doubt if the whole show could continue that way but if most of it was true to the premise then the Prof thought that was brilliant. In fact someone suggested it might be a shot at, or parody of so called Reality TV. Haven't seen the whole thing so I couldn't say. The thing he liked the most was that the whole opening is a minute and a half long, the shortest clip he showed. During that time we see everything we need to know to get what's going on. Someone else suggested the guy in the back was in a cell or something because of the lit door frame (like a Sci-Fi short hand to the audience). Finally, it was voted the best clip shown, even though many of the others were from big budget deals. And for the record, it was a 2/3rds split on the whole thing but that's because a lot of the class aren't into Sci-Fi. The only person to vocalize a problem with the effects was a self-confessed SFX junkie who admitted he didn't even think LOTR got it right all the time. If this thing is ever available for sale I know of one Prof who'd buy it, and use it in his class tomorrow. Let the critics put that in their pipes and smoke them! SPACE should show this.

Word on other boards is that SHUTTLEDOWN may premier at a SciFi convention up here in Canada. The big question is whether its going to be at WESTERCON58 in Calgary the first weekend of July, or TORONTO TREK 19 the third weekend.
Don't know if anyone here is close to either, but I thought it was of interest.
