I was informed earlier today by my agent that I had been offered OTHELLOTM in repertory with another SHAKESPEARE play for a Toronto company's 2nd season, but that the offer was withdrawn when they learned of a scheduling conflict with 2 CAN PLAYTM, which runs throughout JUNE 2005.

Jeez, that totally sucks! Sorry to hear that, Mal. I know you have a strong interest in exploring the role of Othello either in film or on the stage. :-( KJC PS: I have a forum dedicated to you on my message board, now. p067.ezboard.com/bshowbizmediaservices

I had a feeling that something like this would happen when I was asked to sign a Letter of Intent, since the first & last time I did so, an opportunity came up that I was prevented from exploring.
If it's happening because engagers have advance intel about work that they know is likely to interest me, then it's both flattering & bothersome, but my agent thinks that I will be better served by my current commitment insofar as local Casting Directors - which means I'd better not bugger it up!
Many thanks for the dedicated forum; I appreciate that very much, & will be sure not to ruin the walls with pin-ups of SIOUXSIE SIOUX.

SalutaitonsMalcolm,
The moor seems to elude you.
Finnegan is very similar to Othello in a futuristic way; both are mercenaries and have strong ethics and morals. And, somewhere possibly Finnegan might have given a bandanna to his Desdemona.
I can definitely see Malcolm playing Malcolm in Shakespeare’s Scottish Tragedy.
When and where does 2 Can Play start? Cead mile failte

Yes, he does.
How do you perceive FINN to be “mercenary”?
I was auditioned for the role of MALCOLM in MacBETH™, but didn’t get it because the director & her assistant felt that I could not fit into their cast in any of the 5 roles for which they summoned me, time & again.
2 CAN PLAY™ will be playing throughout June 2005 @ CANSTAGE™, 32 BERKELEY STREET in Toronto.

I've had to pass on yet another production of OTHELLOTM due to conflict with my current theatrical commitment, although it was slightly easier to swallow this time, as it was an unpaid rehearsal, to be followed by unpaid performances, although @ a venue that I have always wanted to work in.

jeez, The god's they do play cruel tricks, but the play's will not be as good without you as they would have been with you. That's very kind of you to say, but the proof of the pudding is in the eating, & the critics often disagree with me when it comes to recognition of good Shakespearean acting.
