THU. JUNE 16/2005/22:45 E.S.T.
My agent informed me that Calgary playwright CHERYL FOGGO had rung him earlier today, asking about my availability the 2nd week in August for a play reading.
I had done a 2-hander of hers there, titled HEAVEN™, which was later expanded into a full-length play during a 2-week workshop in Toronto that culminated in a staged reading with set, costumes, properties & lighting.
It was on the strength of her endorsement of my work in Calgary that I was granted the Toronto engagement, so I am eager to learn the details of this next situation, as I had enjoyed working with her very much on both occasions.
This will be my Calgary hat-trick, as well as the first time that I will have been there "In The Summertime", MUNGO JERRY™-style.
The fact that Calgary has killer comic shops & used record shops doesn't hurt, either!
More intel to follow, later today....

FINGERS CROSSED!!! FRI. JUNE 17/2005/14:32 E.S.T.
CYNS,
Thank you very much.
I just gave her a bell, but she was already engaged with another call, & said she would ring me back when that business was concluded.

FRI. JUNE 17/2005/15:30 E.S.T.
Apparently, the reading is to be of the current draft of the expanded version of CHERYL FOGGO'S play HEAVEN (originally a 1-act play), in commemoration of Africa Day & Alberta's week-long centennial celebration & the centennial of black residency therein.
The actress opposite whom I worked in Calgary on that play will be returning from her gig as STORM™ (aka ORORO MUNROE) in X-MEN: EVOLUTION™ & touring with MS. ALANIS MORISSETTE'S brother, in order to reprise her role.
I have not yet been informed who will be directing the rehearsal & reading, but further details about flight, residency & other pertinent matters will be forthcoming, now that my own involvement has been confirmed.

It felt like the right thing to do, & if I had not been so knackered when I made the original post, it would have been there from the start.
I had the same thought....

OK, Calgary is only 16 hours from here. Hmmmm. ANGELEIA,
I have been talking with my ex-agent (now resident in Vancouver) about my visiting British Columbia for a week or so after my work in Calgary is completed, with an eye toward pursuing employment opportunities in Vancouver.

Owing to my commitment to a modelling assignment in Toronto on SAT. AUG. 13/2005, I have been forced to postpone my plans to visit Vancouver.
I'm required to be @ the venue for 19:00 E.S.T., & 2 days are not enough to get done everything I would need to achieve while visiting a major city, so I cannot justify the expense of transcontinental flight for anything less than a full week.
Also, I am distrustful of how capricious airlines can be when it comes to changing flightplans on less than 24 hours' notice to their passengers, & would not want to leave a client/employer in the lurch for reasons beyond my own control.
That said, I shall be departing Toronto circa 20:45 E.S.T. tonight in order to honour my commitment to the play, then boarding a flight from Calgary circa 12:55 (local time) on AUG. 10/2005.
POST SCRIPTUM: I know it's old hat for most people, but I never get bored of the thrill of staying in hotels, especially @ my employers' expense! It makes me feel like CAPTAIN JAMES BOND 007™.

it's OK Malcolm, there will be another time I'm sure MK,
Thank you.
On the upside, however, I was contacted @ the rehearsal space by my agent, who informed me that I have been hired to work on a film that is being produced through The Canadian Film Centre, & that my first day is this coming Friday, which means that I would have had to curtail my Vancouver visitation in any case, so All's Well That Ends Well.
That's good news anyway, but especially so because I was not required to audition for the role; I was offered it!
More intel as it comes....
