PREVIEW REPORT: Hello all! Thanks for your patience as things have been quite hectic here the last week or so.
To update you: we have completed the video portion of SHUTTLEDOWN and 90% of the sound effects (leaving only 10% sound effects and the final music to go).
Typically this brings us to the FOCUS GROUP portion of the process which is where the busy has come from.
We've had multiple showings of the completed product through 10 un-connected feedback sessions (IE: comments from people who didn't work on the production and therefore should not be biased).
So far the feedback on the third act is incredibly positive (considering there is no mood music in place this is a very good sign as drama frequently uses mood music as a crutch for poor dramatic tension).
Of the people who have been present for more than one showing is an increasing appreciation of the subtlies of the story.
For example: one viewer (on their fifth showing as of tonight) commented last night that something one of the negatives they commented on after the first showing, they now realize wasn't. They've realized it was a "tell" for later in the story and begged us not to change anything based on their earlier comments.
Most of the critical comments we've sampled so far focus on minor technical points, length for some shots, sound volume in certain exchanges etc and this feedback is being used between each session to further strengthen the final product.
And that's the story... we'll further update as things occur.
Take care and hope you're enjoying either your Canadian Thanksgiving or Columbus Day!

Thank you for the update. Topper I hope you don't mind that I have disseminated the information that was already posted on Titan Rainbow to the yahoo group and to the FSQ group on BigHairyKev. I thought that sother's might want to know what was up.

On the contrary Lady Tass, I'm quite thankful that the Network (sinister music notes plays here) is up and running in places where I sadly, do not have the time to visit regularly enough on my own. You are a loyal friend and true!

“Now see here, LOIS…!”
LADYTASS,
I echo TOPPER’S words, & thank you, once again.
Somehow, it seems more “real” to me when you spread the intel, & I find that you have done so on our behalf.

Is there any chance that some of this will be posted on-line soon? A preview perhaps?

Has anyone else on the board seen it? One would think at least a few board members (other than Topper) would be worthy of this treat.

GG,
Funny how certain questions/comments get rapid reaction and others don't? I for one will answer you... I have not seen it. Anyone else want to chime in?
Or... is it possible that in order to see it you have to swear to tell anyone who didn't see it that you didn't see it either?
Maybe it's a whole conspiracy thing and everyone who hasn't answered you has seen it but can't say anything for fear of men in dark suits coming to get them (or maybe men in multi-colored, rainbow suits)
Maybe every person who has seen it has a red "X" on the back of their neck and they can only talk about it to other people who also have a red "X" on their necks like that old movie!
I'm gonna lie down now, tightly holding my blanket to my chin, just like I did when I was young. Good night all!

LADYTASS,
“So mote it be!”
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
FIRST LEFTENANT, MS. KITKA & PUNISHMENT,
In response to your respective queries, I offer up first an apology in the delayed & varied response times.
TOPPER is actively involved with post-production on SHUTTLEDOWN™ & on various freelance projects with which he has become involved, due to his computer genius, so his own time is very much in demand here & elsewhere.
Currently, I am in rehearsal for 2 live engagements & a 3rd live engagement that will be telecast in DEC. 2004, about which I shall be posting as that time/date draws near, as well as packing my possessions into storage for the Winter, so that accounts for my own prolonged/selective absence.
I myself only saw it late last week @ a private screening with GAZ, & found it to be quite a strange sensation, since I am unaccustomed to having access to pre-post-production footage (but very accustomed to being the last to see & hear my own work!)
I found the contrast in acting styles quite compelling to experience, & was thrilled by the entire programme, particularly the opening titles & closing credit sequence, which affected me greatly in ways that I had not anticipated, as did the lighting & cinematography.
If there’s “a whole conspiracy thing” afoot, then I did not receive a copy of that series of memoranda!
The following is an excerpt from TOPPER:"For everyone's information the "special plans" for today's FINN FRIDAYS that MALCOLM is referring to would have the posting of the SHUTTLEDOWN opening act. Our Legal Department stepped in at the last minute and nixed this idea because the music covering the sequence is TEMPORARY MUSIC used to give the composer (and other internal parties) a sense of the expected mood music etc for the sequence. Unfortunately as we do not have rights to use this music for broadcast we cannot post this sequence YET. But what say you? Would posting just the cold opening be a good thing or an evil tease?"

;D Whoa! What am I missing? I've got to malcolm's site but I'm not seeing it! Everything looks pretty much as befroe! I didn't see it at first either FL. Go to MALCOLM'S SITE and on the home page look for the FSQ Cat's Eye (along the right side). Click it and wait (it's a big download but worth it). Then PASS IT ON!
